Any contact that primary care staff make with the Occupational Health Service will remain confidential.
This means that any information given to the Occupational Health Service in trust will not be divulged unless the express and written consent of the individual concerned is given.
The only exception to this guarantee of confidentiality is in the event of there being the risk of significant harm or injury to the individual or to another person.
There may be circumstances when it is in an individual's best interest to share confidential medical information with their manager or immediate colleagues. For example, in the case of an individual developing a disability which requires some adjustments in their workplace/working conditions.
The release of information under such circumstances will be handled sensitively and with the individual's express and written consent.
Your right to confidentiality is protected through the following legislation;
Data Protection act 1998, Human Rights Act 1998.
